Just returned from the Take Shape For Life National Convention 2009 in Scottsdale, AZ and I’m overflowing with positive energy and optimism. The environment was amazing, could not have been better! I want to share with you some of the highlights from my notes over the past week.
WE ARE CHANGING LIVES
Change yourself from the inside out. Do you believe it’s possible? If you do then you can; it’s that simple. One of the major themes I brought back was how powerful each one of us is in our own lives. Change is good when it leads to what really matters most in your life. What do health coaches do? The essence of a health coach is helping people change their lives. When given the proper underlying structure along with a plan of action and support from someone who cares there is no limit as to what you can attain. Do you believe it’s possible? We also spent quality time discussing our belief systems and concepts.
Willpower vs. Passion
Changing lives comes from passion not willpower. Passion is your true desire where willpower is more associated with resisting something you don’t want. Think about willpower; we feel like we are missing out on something we think we really want but are stopping ourselves from doing/having it. Thus, willpower creates stress in our lives. It is an internal struggle which is exacerbated especially in a time when we are trying to create positive change in our life. Do we really want to create stress in our lives through the use of willpower? NO!! (I underlined that in my notes).
It’s GOT to be for YOU
Passion comes from knowing WHY you want to change. Passion can be created and fueled—but again, you’ve got to know what you want and why. These are your deepest values and highest aspirations. If you are doing it for someone else then it most likely will not happen. It’s got to be for you. Write down your why now.
Vision and Planning
The two main causes of failure are lack of planning and lack of vision. Write down your vision of health now (it can be anything you want it to be). As your health coach, and as a member of the Take Shape For Life bionetwork, I have the plan, tools and support you need. Collectively we definitely can.
What’s Holding You Back?
During one of the general assemblies Dr. Andersen showed a slide that he had a renowned artist create for him. It shows a man treading water with his nose barely above the surface of a lake and he’s holding a large, heavy rock in his hands. On the shoreline is a trail that leads up a mountain. At the top of the mountain you read, in essence, “everything you’ve ever wanted”. On the rock you read “what’s holding me back”. We are all carrying around these big rocks in life which represent our concepts. For example: “I can’t attain my ideal goal weight because ________”. What you fill in the blank is your rock. You are just barely treading water and could have whatever you want if you’d just jettison your rock. What is your rock?
Help Me Help You
I’m ready right here, right now to support your highest aspirations in regaining your health. What you’ll get out of this is an experience. Would you like to have a life-changing experience? How cool would that be? The alternative is to keep doing what you’ve been doing. If you choose the latter, where will you be in ten years from now? What is that vision like? If you’re happy with it then I’m happy with it too. But if not, let me show you the way. Do you want to start RIGHT NOW? Then send me an email RIGHT NOW, tell me what you want and when you want it. Let’s put time stamps on the process with weekly accountability. In just 30 days you’ll feel amazing!
I believe the best part about having a lofty goal is who you become to realize it. The greater the challenge, the greater the person.
